The Four Voice Parts
This is a rather interesting and clever adaptation of Society Music Educator Greg Lyne's part characterization, to give everyone an idea as to how their part, and their role, fits into the total scheme of things.
Lead
The Personality. You bring a song to life. You tell the story. The audience wants someone to guide them. Your personality will give this guidance. You also get the honor of presenting the most endearing element of a song: the melody.
Keywords: Animated, Emotional, Leading.
Bass:
The Engine. You are the foundation. You are a machine. A constant. The other parts depend on you to be there, true and unwavering. Your part provides the power. A fine-tuned engine allows the other parts to work more efficiently, allowing more opportunities for emotion and style to be manifested.
Keywords: Constant, Controlled Energy, Firm Power.
Baritone:
The Dignity. You bring nobility into the mix. You make the ensemble sound more resonant. You also must be the most flexible with regard to intonation, bending notes so the chords lock and ring. You are the precisionists.
Keywords: Dignified, Resonant, Precise yet Flexible.
Tenor:
The Sparkle. You create brilliance. Your embellishments draw in the listener. You are the part that, more than any other, separates Barbershop from other forms of music. You are the goose bump manufacturers.
Keywords: Pure, Brilliant, Angelic.
